How We Created the Buddy Bubble: A Family’s Journey to Healthier Pet Ownership

For as long as she can remember, my wife has adored rabbits. Growing up, she always had one or two hopping around her home, and that love naturally passed down to our daughter. After years of asking for a bunny, hoping to experience the same joy her mom once had, our daughter finally convinced us to visit a local bunny rescue. That day, she found her “buddy,” a sweet, playful rabbit named Arlo! 🐇💕

However, there was one major obstacle: allergies. Our family suffers from moderate to severe asthma and allergies, making it challenging to welcome a small furry friend indoors. While our home is filled with love for animals, pet dander, waste, and food allergens posed a significant risk to our health.

After bringing Arlo home, our daughter experienced near-constant sinus infections and severe allergy symptoms. The allergens from Arlo’s fur and hay seemed to settle everywhere, triggering her asthma and creating an unhealthy environment. We faced the heartbreaking reality of possibly needing to rehome Arlo, which devastated us all. 😢

Then our daughter had an idea that changed everything: What if we could create a contained, allergen-controlled environment for Arlo? We dove into research about allergy-free pet care and the needs of small pets. We discovered that no products existed specifically designed for families managing allergies while caring for small pets. So, we decided to create one ourselves!

Our prototypes were far from perfect, but they showed promise. We experimented with camping tents and various air purifiers. To our relief, our daughter’s symptoms improved dramatically. The contained environment helped prevent allergens from spreading, and cleaning became much easier. 🧼✨

Encouraged by these results, we collaborated with manufacturers to develop a more permanent solution. We designed the Buddy Bubble—an innovative habitat that prioritizes the health of small pets while empowering pet owners with allergies. This enclosure includes advanced HEPA filtration to tackle allergens and odors, ensuring fresh air circulation for Arlo. 💚

Our daughter can enjoy her time with Arlo without the constant cycle of allergy symptoms.
